Backlink: all the links pointing at a particular web page. Inbound links are an important part of web site marketing as they can deliver targeted visitors directly from another web site, and can help to improve the ranking position of your site on search engines that use link popularity as a part of their algorithm.
Beta: When used in reference to software, is the release of an initial or upgraded program or system for testing by the public. Users may experience bugs with beta software.
Black Hat SEO: Black Hat search engine optimisation is usually defined as techniques that are used to get higher search rankings in an unethical manner.
Blog: A frequent, chronological publication of personal thoughts and Web links. However these can now include corporate blogs and ‘paid for comment’ blogs.
Blogosphere: A collective term encompassing all blogs and their interconnections. As all blogs are on the internet by definition, they are perceived as existing together as a connected community (or as a collection of connected communities) or as a social network.
Bookmark: A feature in web browsers that allows the browser to remember a URL/Web address you visited, users can then click on the bookmark instead of typing in the website address
Botnets: Groups of computers infected with malware and controlled by a malicious bot master.
