The team at Integrati Marketing Consulting believe in self determination and the power of the entrepreneurial spirit to change lives. This is why we love Kiva’s work!

We are new supporters to Kiva in the last two months but what we love about the Kiva concept is the notion of micro-finance as a tool too empower people to build better lives without the need of the United Nations or the large traditional so called Not For Profit groups.

The Kiva principle is simple send money from ethical investors like you and me looking to help people improve their lives by starting up small businesses. The difference is that the people we are sending money too do not have access to ‘traditional’ banks and institutions. This is where the micro-finance comes in and the work of Muhammad Yunus, by providing credit to communities where they would not have been in the past able to access funds readily, and when they did it was through highly unethical loan sharks.

Even better, it is a loan, this is important as the people applying know it is not charity it is a loan for them to give them a chance to lift themselves out of poverty through their own endeavors. That does not mean the loan is risk free, they may fail or they may succeed – but the great thing is being able help these people ‘give it a go!‘ A fair go! Which, as Australians we love when the underdog is given a fair go!

The first team Integrati Marketing have chosen to support are in Kandoeng Thum Village, Cambodia. You can learn more about their loan and how their village plans to benefit from the loan. Here is a little more information about the team;

“Mrs. Saroem Nhor is the village bank president who has been selected by the other members. She is a farmer who owns a plot of land to grow rice to feed her family. Her husband is a dessert seller. Although they work hard at their careers, they still earn little income. They want to start a new business, but they don’t have enough money. Thus, Mrs. Saroem Nhor decided to apply for a loan to buy some piglets, pig food for breeding pigs, and dessert for resale. She is the mother of five children: one attends the local public school, while the others are seamstresses in a garment factory.”
